He Xiaozhu was born into a Miao ethnic family in Sichuan province. He participated in “the third generation” movement as a member of the “nay-nayist” poetry group in the 1980s. He has published three poetry collections: Dream of Apples and Fishes, The Sheep Turning Back, and Six Verbs or Apples.
